Join me, YouTube’s Laci Green, and some outstanding Sex Geeks at the 30th Annual Sex Ed Conference Dec 9-11!
I’m honored to be asked to teach 2 workshops this year including the first-ever, special, post-conference workshop at the Nation’s largest conference devoted exclusively to sexuality education… And I’d be even MORE honored if you joined me there, too! I’ll be teaching….
Encouraging Pleasure, Ending Assault: Minimizing Sexual Misconduct on Campus by Teaching Students About Pleasure-Positive Relationships, with Reid Mihalko, Virginia Cylke, PhD, and Beth Savage, PhD
This workshop will point out how ‘traditional’ models of addressing rape and sexual misconduct/dating violence/domestic violence/stalking on college campuses are wildly outdated and ineffective, and suggest some radical ideas on how pleasure and consent based, feminist models of promoting healthy sexual relationships are having a greater, more positive impact in changing student behaviors.

Self-Care/Con-Drop Solution: Kicking the “Conference Hangover” Before Heading Back To Work
The joke we tell our peers: “We’re going to need a vacation after returning from this professional conference!” The reality: We lose the precious momentum we gained from these immersive learning and networking experiences as we crash upon “re-entry.” The cost: The lack of energy and focus keeps us from implementing and integrating what we learned. We become overwhelmed as we try to play catchup, which eventually turns into a dread of conferences and retreats, impacts our morale and self-esteem, and robs our workspaces and careers of the very opportunities for progress and excitement that had us attend these conferences in the first place. We stop attending what was once a great conference and the community cross-polination and peer support that was essential to the strength of our movement fades away.
But this doesn’t have to be our collective fate.
If you’ve ever fallen prey to “conference crud” or “decompression hangover” because your immune and nervous systems were run down by the event’s end… If you’ve ever felt the overwhelm of returning to work on Monday with a stack of business cards that you never follow up on… If you’ve ever gotten into a fight with a co-worker or loved one because you had a case of the “conference crankies”… Then join “America’s favorite sex geek” and avid retreat/conference junkie, Reid Mihalko, for a humorous, insightful and playfully interactive workshop that will help you discover your personal self-care best practices and strategies so you can thrive rather than simply survive professional obligations.
Be the envy of your co-workers and have a family that looks forward to your return as you make Con-Drop a breeze!
You will learn:
- Why Con-Drop and Conference Hangovers happen and why “toughing it out” makes things worse
- Prep strategies and actionables to take before conferences, retreats, and immersive learning experiences that will allow you to learn more, retain more, and have waaaaay more fun
- Tips and tricks you can apply during conferences and retreats that will maximize your ability to learn, leave a better impression on your peers, and set you up to win for returning home
- “Re-Entry” techniques and strategies that will make family life easier and happier for everyone and help you kick-butt when returning to work
Invest in yourself and your family by joining us so YOU can uncover your own, unique self-care approach and begin to mindfully “stack the deck in your favor” before, during, and after attending professional obligations. And if you think you’re going to be too exhausted to take the workshop, don’t fret, Reid will demonstrate how you can attend events AND facilitate in a way that gives you energy rather than leaves you a spent, empty husk of an educator. Let’s end the conference with a bang that carries us forward, shall we?!

About CSE: The Center for Sex Education (CSE) has been hosting an annual Sex Ed Conference since 1985. What started as a one-day conference for New Jersey health educators has grown into the largest conference in the United States that is exclusively devoted to sexuality education. Participants attend from across the nation and many other parts of the world to network and learn best practices in sexuality education, addressing a spectrum of topics, audiences, and ages.
The CSE is also the publisher of sexuality education manuals used throughout the world. Guides range from how to answer young children’s questions about sexuality to teaching senior citizens about sex ed. Every age in between is addressed, providing sexuality educators with user-friendly, cost-effective lesson plans addressing puberty, healthy and unhealthy relationships, contraception, sexual safety, and much more. CSE publications are available at SexEdStore.com. The website is introducing a membership option where members can access searchable, electronic versions of the lesson plans. This option is available when registering for the conference.
The Center for Sex Education, led by executive director Bill Taverner, considered an expert in sexuality education, provides keynotes, workshops, inservice training, and other professional development at reasonable fees. For more information, contact Info@SexEdStore.com.
