“For those of you who might not have heard, I’d like to get you up to speed about something very important that is happening in my life and my community of fellow sex educators…

It was recently brought to my attention that, 8 years ago, I violated the consent of a colleague.

I have issued a public apology for my sexual misconduct, have stepped down from teaching sex ed until further notice, and am in the process of a restorative justice approach of accountability to the person harmed as well as my community.

There is also an anonymous reporting system set up to encourage anyone who’s experienced harm by me to share their stories so that I can more fully understand how such harms occurred and do the work to prevent them from happening in the future. If you are interested, I invite you to follow along with my accountability process. Showing up and making amends for harm is deep, important work that can easily be done in ways that create further harm. It is with the help of my peers and community, that I hope to minimize that harm, and I thank you for that investment in me, and our industry/community.
