SGSC-No-Harrassment-Policy
No Harassment Policy
Sex Geek Summer Camp, as well as Reid’s other #SexGeekPro events (offerings focused on serving sex educators and sex-positive entrepreneurs), are committed to offering experiences as free from harassment as we can make it regardless of characteristics such as gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, age, race, size, religion, nationality, or social class. We do not tolerate harassment of participants or staff in any form. Campers or staff violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the event without a refund at the discretion of the organizers.
Camp and Reid’s other #SexGeekPro events are designed to be “brave spaces” where you can challenge yourself, lean into your growth edges, feel vulnerable, and empower yourself to learn. Feeling unsafe because you are growing and pushing your own edges is not the same as being harassed.
Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to such characteristics mentioned above, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following and failing to respect someone’s No, unwelcome photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome attention.
Attendees and Staff asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately with no questions asked. Regardless of tone, let’s treat being told “No” or being asked to stop as a complete sentence that requires no explanation. Should the person asked to stop require an explanation, they are invited to find Reid or a member of the Support Team for support rather than asking the person who asked you to stop for an explanation.
If a Camper or Camp Staff engages in harassing behavior, the organizers may take any lawful action we deem appropriate, including but not limited to warning the offender or expelling them from the event with no refund. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have similar concerns, please contact Reid or a Support Staff member immediately. While we are primarily concerned with preventing harassment at Camp during the event, we will also respond to Camp-related situations that might occur outside that space, for example in online contexts such as the Camp Alumni/SexGeekPro Facebook Group(s).
Understanding that guaranteeing a completely 100% safe space is not possible, Camp Staff will assist those who are experiencing harassment to lessen their feelings of “unsafeness.” This support may take many forms, including but not limited to Staff contacting local law enforcement, providing services such as escorting the person to a safer location or otherwise assisting those experiencing harassment for the duration of the event. Attendees who are approached by or come upon someone experiencing harassment are invited to escort that someone to Reid or Staff, or come find Reid or a Staff Team Member and alert them of the situation immediately if possible.
We value your presence.
