Storytellers are an eclectic mix of Authors, Porn Stars, Sex Educators, Comics & More, along with Regular Joes just like you who submitted their stories online and were chosen for their panache and sense of (Mis)Adventure.
Bawdy Storytelling features tales of Carnal Wins & Epic Fails with No Scripts, No Nets, and No Holds Barred. These folks aren’t reading from cue cards: this is honest-to-badness story time with true sexcapades and poignant, transformational tales at each and every show. This is Bawdy’s curated mainstage show, and here’s how it typically works:
Step 1. I put out a call for storytellers, and announce the theme. You tell me the city you’re pitching for, and the theme you’re pitching for (‘Slippery Slope’ in Seattle)
Step 2: Send me a recording of you telling your story, all the way through — it needn’t be stage ready, just you telling me the story. Please label the email (the subject line) with the theme and the city (example: ‘Story Pitch for Slippery Slope’ in Seattle). Send the story pitch to Dixie@BawdyStorytelling.co
Step 3: I chose the storytellers, we do a story coaching session, and then you’re ready to ROCK the stage on show night.
Also: Do you have a bio of 100 words or less? Send your bio along with your story pitch and we’ll be even more ready to put you onstage, if the story is a fit for Bawdy.
A Reminder on how Bawdy works:
- Bawdy is a live stage performance series. It is storytelling, which means using your words, not your body — no nudity or sex acts are accepted. The person who had the true adventure gets up onstage in one of the cities we’re in (currently: San Francisco, Seattle, LA or Chicago) and tells their story to the audience.
- Stories told at Bawdy are True, & told by the person who lived the adventure
- Stories are Told (not read off paper)
- Stories relate to Sex, Kink or Gender and typically, a theme.
- Your story should be told in 10 minutes or less
